Safety and security are some of the things you should give major consideration when buying a car. Here are some of the car safety features that shouldn't miss in your next car.

Height-Adjustable Lumbar Support

Lumbar support ensures that your body maintains the right posture as you drive. That way you avoid the pain and health issues associated with poor posture. It works by ensuring that your ears, shoulders, and pelvis have proper alignment. As you can imagine, lumbar support is height dependent; what works for a five-foot driver may not work for a six-foot driver. Therefore, unless you are absolutely certain you are the only one who will be driving the car, you need height-adjustable lumbar support in your next car.

Automatic Emergency Braking

This feature is useful for those situations where you fail to react in time to avoid a collision. This may be the case, for example, if you panicked in anticipation of a potential collision or you were momentarily distracted. The system detects the imminent collision and engages the brake system automatically.

 Collision Warning

Few things are as dangerous as getting distracted while on the road. In a perfect would drivers wouldn't have to deal with distraction, but before then, collision warning system will continue helping prevent collisions in cases of distractions. Collision warning systems use a combination of radar, camera and laser systems to scan the environment and detect the presence and speed of nearby vehicles. It then gives you visual, audible (or both) warnings if it senses an imminent crash.

Voice Controls

You should never take your eyes off the road or hands off the steering wheel because doing so means you won't be able to notice road dangers or you may not react in time even if you do. Fumbling with entertainment controls, trying to make phone calls or closing/opening windows are some of the things that make people take their hands or eyes off where they should be. Having integrated voice controls in the car will reduce such incidences.

Rear or 360-Degree Camera

Lastly, you should also consider having rear mirrors or 360-degree mirrors in your next car. The rear mirrors help with packing so that you don't accidentally crash into other things or people while reversing. 360-degree cameras do the same thing, but they give you a bird's eye view picture of the car and not just its rear.

Research the car you want before going to the dealership. That way you won't get dazzled by bells and whistles that you may not necessarily need. For more information on finding new Hondas near you, contact your local dealership.
